Sales Calls Days

Yick. Making sales calls is just about my least favorite thing to do. I get a weird feeling in the pit in my stomach and I just want to go under the covers and go to sleep. Phone call after phone call. Then, email follow ups, samples to send and then, do it all over the next day.
Again I say Yick.
My short term goal of getting into one day spa for every state hasn't quite materialized yet. My efforts really only just begun, because of the research that needed to be done first.
In any case, I will plug away and do it because I have to. I can't expect every part of my job to be fun every day, right? :)

I haven't made calls, BUT have gone on foot to deliver samples, company info etc... On one adventure I did this in a little eastern shore quaint town with lovely shops and bed & breakfast inns. What I found out was that most shop keepers wanted to be an exclusive sellers~ ummm...that won't be very productive for my company. On this weekend adventure I did land supplying one of the bed & breakfast inns with all Cambridge Rum products~ and have been supplying it for years now.

Joanna~ Have you thought about bed & breakfast inns? Many have wonderful soaking/spa tubs, and offer massage services etc... anyway~just a thought.

You described the feeling perfectly! I haven't spent days making calls to sell soaps, but that's exactly the feeling I get when faced with making calls for my 'real' job. Or when faced with anything I just don't want to do, really. :)

I don't like using the phone period, but sales calls are the pits. Whats worse is that despite your frustration you have to sound positive to make a good impression. During college I worked as an evil telemarketer = ) Maybe that's why I hate using the phone so much...

I like the B&B idea.

Oooh, I hate making phone calls period, even to family or friends. I'll bet you have great phone presence though, even if you hate to do it. I'm crossing my fingers for your goal! And I also agree with Carrie about the B&B idea.

i used to work in sales, and i know the feeling! you can do it though. think how great you feel when you've accomplished these and don't take anything personally! you will get there! i think it's a great goal. I will keep my eyes peeled for some good places in california! i think the b&b is a good idea, too!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I dislike making sales calls too.

Just remember, to get what others don't have, you have to do what others won't.

And, most people don't like sales calls so the fact that you're doing 'em puts you way ahead of the game. =)
