A Little Chef's Scrub

I have only found one thing that our Crush On You (or Chef's Scrub specifically), doesn't kill.  Scents and oily messes, that is.  I have taken off fish, garlic, onions, cray-paas, olive oil, glue, lard...you name it, our sugar scrub will remove it.

Except one thing.

Skunk.

You ask how I know this??  Well, I was at the dog park a few weeks ago and a giant mastiff got sprayed in the face and the owner asked me to smell his face and confirm that she was sprayed.  Well, the dog got excited when I put my face near hers and she lunged happily towards me.  My right hand stopped her from kissing my face, luckily, but my right hand had skunk oil on it for HOURS.

I tried Chef's Scrub Sugar Scrub and it worked better than I thought it would.  I've heard tomato juice, tomatoes, etc.... not coffee, lemon, sugar...my 1,2 punch for everything stinky.  That skunk just wreaked beyond Adam.

So perhaps a tomato basil blend is in store here at Product Body to deal with those pesky skunks.

I ordered three Sugar Shea Scrubby Washes from Product Body at Etsy, and she included a perfume oil sample in my box. Here is my review as promised! First the TAT was amazing. She makes each product when its ordered and promised a 3 day turn around. She shipped my order in less than a day. She packed all my items with care inside a sturdy box and surrounded them in soft colorful tissue papers. The box was sealed securely, my items arrived safe and in perfect condition. :) As I opened the box, I first spotted a sample of her brand new limited edition Valentine's perfume oil in Lair. She describes it so accurately on her website, I'll quote her instead of searching for my own words: "Smoky sandalwood, crushed black tea, vanilla drops, cloves, and smoke. This one is sexy and dark. Imagine standing in a cabin in the woods. You've just showered, there's with a freshly lit fire, and you're warming yourself by the crackling flames. A breeze carries the almost imperceptible scent of distant flowers through the window... " I absolutely cannot wait to shower and use this perfume oil. If its as good on me as it is in the container, she may get another order from me. :) And now the Crush on You Sugar Shea Scrubby Washes! I've only tried one with a hand washing, so this is my first impression of the product. The containers are so cute! They each have a scent label on the top for easy ID, they're clear so I can see how much product is left at a glance, the ingredients are written clearly on the label, and they are packed to the top with product. The scrub is not greasy/oily at all and well, it feels kind of like sugar cookie dough! It holds shape when moved around in the jar and is really densely packed, yet loose enough to get some out easily. When I add water to the scoop in my hands and rub it around it turns creamy/milky like. The sugar granules and creaminess feels wonderful on my hands. After rinsing and drying, my hands feel soft, clean and smell great! The scent I tried is Mazu, its a little strong in the jar but softly scented on the skin. If I lift my hands toward my face and breathe in, I can smell it pretty well. I don't think it would interfere with perfumes or lotions. I took a photo here so you can see what I mean about its consistency. I tried my best to capture it. :)

Her scent descriptions are great, so here they are and my comments in parenthesis: Mazu - Coconut milk, lemongrass, blackened vanilla, crushed Indonesian lime leaves, smoky clove, a whisper of jasmine and a tiny hint of dark musk. (I definitely get the coconut, lemongrass, lime leaves smoky clove, blackened vanilla and musk. I am not picking up the jasmine) Ginger Milk Tea - Hot blended tea infused with nutmeg, cloves and vanilla topped with frothy sweet ginger milk.(Definitely getting all these scents with this one. Its not real strong in the jar, so this one may be difficult to smell on the skin if it follows how Mazu was) Raspberry Linzer Cookie - Raspberry Linzer Cookie smells just like that cookie! (I have never had a Linzer cookie, but now I have to. I'm actually running an errand in a bit after this post and plan on looking for some of these. It smells like heaven. A Buttery baked cookie with the brightness of Raspberry Jam and the sweetnes of sugar sprinkles on top, keep the spoons away from me, it smells good enough to eat!) Overall I am completely impressed with the TAT, CS, Scents, Products, and the generous sample I received. I am definitely planning another order as soon as I "use it up!"

Raspberry Linzer Cookie Scent... Oooo

I had a wonderful note on my wall on Facebook last week from a fellow bath and body colleague who tried some Crush On You and Creme Fresh. She brightened my day with her note:

"OMGEEE~! I got my order today, Joanna-that Rasperry L Cookie Scrub is THE BEST Cookie smell I have EVER smelled!!!! WOW, my mouth is freaking out and my brain is Peeved it can't have cookies :) Also the Creme Fresh is now the moisturizer I NEED for my face. I'm Dying! Thanks soooo much :)"

I just had to share because I that scent is so "to die for" and I don't know if people are really believing that this is truly the real deal. It smells like THE COOKIE. A lot of fragrance oils say they smell like stuff and you get it and it's like, "huh? This smells nothing like blah blah blah." But this is the real McCoy. It is now a permanent part of our collection. I can't stop sniffing it. That's why.

Perhaps the next batch she makes she won't create them the size of her FACE. Then she might have some extras! ;)

Kind Words And A Rub

A customer sent this to me a while back but I found it today while I was going through some files.

I also had a separate experience with Sugarfoot just the other day. I was waxing my own legs on Sunday (ouch!) and was left with a lot of sticky residue and was attaching to everything. Ew. I jumped in the shower and scrubbed my lower legs with Sugarfoot to get the sticky off. It felt SOOOOOO good. It wasn't too harsh on my freshly waxed skin, and felt so perfectly scrubbed. I rubbed it on and it turned white as I scrubbed it in, like it was turning into a scrub-like-lotion. I rinsed it off and when I got out, my legs felt perfectly smooth and soft. No oiliness.

And I smelled like a fresh grapefruit. :)

6 Oz Crushes Are Back By Popular Demand!

We took away the 6 oz Crush On You sugar scrubs last year because we were offering way too many sizes.

Large, Regular, Trial and Travel.  I was working my tush off!  It wasn't like we had one scent and I could just fill them all and be done with it.  We were offering 4, 5 sometimes 6 scents.  So we took away the Trial size.

The recession continued, we dropped our prices, people were holding onto their money.  We understand!  So we made a decision to go the OTHER way (sorry folks who love the Large size).  We are now carrying the Regular 10.5 oz, the 6 oz and the Travel 2.5 oz.

The 6 oz. Crush On You is $12.00 and you can find it right here!  We DO listen to the popular demand.  Mostly.  But we also have to do what we can and what is best for business and my sanity.

New Scent For The Winter

Ginger Milk Tea

 Steaming creamy milk tea with ginger and a whisper of clove.

We are only offering it in Crush On You and Creme Fresh for now.  ....Well..... I made a loaf of soap, but it won't be ready until mid January.  Pictures to follow when I cut the loaf.

I tell you, I am hooked on the scent, BIG TIME already.  It's my new favorite.

Mashed Potatoes?

We had our shea butter sugar scrub, Crush On You, photographed (by us of course, as usual) thinking we did a great job and how peaceful, spa-like and luscious it all looked. Well, Girl's Life (GL) wanted to do a give away with us a week or so ago. GL 's a magazine and blog that is targeted to 10-14 year olds. This I didn't know until after the giveaway started. I actually thought the audience was 14-17. So, on their blog, two comments mentioned that the Crush On You looked like mashed potatoes, so now every time I see this picture, I think of potatoes.

So sad and potatoey. You CAN tell me it doesn't look like potatoes, even if you lie to me. ;) Just lie to me.

On the flip side, it is the best damn scrub I have ever used. =0)

Crush On You Is Officially #1

Crush On You has topped the charts at Product Body. It is our top seller, it is the top discusser, the top raver, it's all anyone ever talks about these days. In fact, I am making it everyday just keeping up with the demand of the master exfoliators out there. (You know who you are ;P)

I originally made Crush for the body, but found myself using the scrub mostly for my hands at the kitchen sink because we are tuna fish eaters and garlic lovers here and that Crush On You takes odors right off the hands. Oil, too. Since I make the stuff, I have a tub of it at every sink in the house. I also love using it as a pre-shave for my legs. I love the roughness of a scrub on my lower legs especially. The rougher the better ...they are in a constant state of inner itch, so the scrub just eases the tension (hard to explain, so I'll just drop it so I don't bore you all).

Since Crush On You was born a few years ago, it's been just a body scrub, or so I thought. This year, my cousin tells me she's been using it on her face and has been for months. People at work keep stopping her and asking her where she's getting her "work" done. "Are you going to a dermatologist or getting plastic surgery or botox, or what!? I need their phone number!"

Get outta here!

She says to me, "No, Jo. Really." Then she tells me her son (who is also my Godson and 16 years old) has been using the Crush On You and his acne cleared up since he started using it. WHAT!? Get out. Okay, now, looking younger and beng acne free? Give me a piece of that Kit Kat bar! So guess what? I started using Crush On You as a facial scrub every night before bed for about 2 months, and my skin is way softer, looks smoother and my pimples are at bay. Hormonal acne can't be treated... those come from within, but the excess ones? They are gone!

A Tale Of A Sleepover

A story told by my mother about my daughter....


My sweet Nina Rose was 12 years old last week. She wanted to have a pajama party with her friends, and I volunteered my house (because it has a nice big heated pool and lots of rooms). At last Saturday came and at about 5:30 the Schmidt family and some 7 friends, (5 boys and 2 girls) arrived at my overly prepared house. They ate, and ate, and ate, and drank, and swam. That many kids sure make a lot of noise.

Well Nina was magnanimous and told her brother he could stay. So now there were 6 boys. They swam, played all kinds of games, ran around the neighborhood terrifying my poor friends, then settled down to several horror movies on the floor of my family room. Jo and I watched, felt proud and enjoyed our evening with them. The girls went to their room at about 3 a.m. and the boys slept in the family room and library.

The next day, no one wanted to go home, but after swimming and eating, and eating, and eating, they decided they needed to shower and hopefully brush their teeth. Nina and Marin went into my bathroom to shower, the boys into another. All was fine. But later that night after the whole crew went home, I went into the bathroom to shower. Half of my Crush on You was used by the girls, and most of my moisturizer was gone. Nina is the best endorsement for her mother's products, but a message to the granddaughter: KEEP YOUR GRUBBY HANDS OFF MY PRODUCTS. Love, Mom
